Zing!

Hotspot Cabaret

The Classic Studio, Friday 1st April 2016

Jay: OK I think Hot Spot was the best thing we've seen at The Classic Comedy Club for a while, eh.

Val: I'll say! Not a single poos or wees gag, and no white men talking about wanking.

J: Well there was a white woman talking about wanking…

V: And what a bloody hilarious and . . .

Meow Meow's Little Mermaid

Spiegeltent, Aotea Square, 9th March 2016

Val: So.  Another fantastic offering from the Auckland Arts Festival

La Cucina dell'Arte

Circus Ronaldo Big Top, Aotea Sq. 2nd March 2016

Val: This is one of those performances that makes something look so elegantly, delicately simple – but is in fact mind-bogglingly complex and complicated and more skillful than any of us ordinary Joannas in the audience could even dream of being.  And it’s very, very funny.

Jay: Yeah, that family circus heritage . . .

People Like Us

The Pumphouse Theatre, 19th Feb 2016

Jay: This play has a classic musical storyline – two people meet and fall in love, they’re caught up in conflicts caused by the consequences of their past lives, they're torn apart. Can they overcome the difficulties by the final number???  The 'twist' is the fact that the stars are two transwomen.
